Sally Ride Science Festival
On Saturday, October 28, members of Rice EWB volunteered at the Sally Ride Science Festival. The annual festival at Rice University brings together hundreds of 5th-8th grade girls for a day of science and socializing. Rice EWB members led a workshop titled "Fun with Fluids; Everyday to Extraordinary" which emphasized the importance of clean water.

Assessment Training Session
On Sunday, October 25, Rice EWB led a workshop to prepare students for an Assessment trip. They practiced the skills they will need in-country to evaluate a community including health and topographical surveying.

EWB South Central Regional Workshop Presentation
Rice EWB's External Vice President, Maggie Murphy, gave a presentation to over 25 EWB chapters at the annual EWB South Central Region Workshop. She focused on how to get University support to start an EWB chapter and how to use your networks to fundraise for your projects.

$2 A Day Challenge: Rice Students Raise Awareness About Global Poverty
Rice EWB and Rice Microfinance teamed up to host the $2 A Day Challenge to raise awareness about the billions of people in the world living on less than $2 a day. About 50 Rice students raised money and lived in a shantytown in the center of campus for 4 days while limiting consumption.
