Current Projects

The Rice University Chapter of Engineers Without Borders has implemented 3 projects since its inception in April of 2003. The Mexico and El Salvador projects are ongoing and more information about them can be found in thecurrent projectssection of this website.

For our inaugural project, the Rice EWB partnered with the members of Foutaka Zambougou, a small community in Mali, West Africa. Project implementation occurred from May 16-31.

The three founding members of Rice EWB joined eight University of Colorado engineering students, two professional engineers, and the founder of EWB-USA, Dr. Bernard Amadei in undertaking the implementation of the project. Rice EWB members observed and participated in implementation of the project; project design and management was headed up by the University of Colorado Chapter of EWB.
