Rice-EWB Organizational Structure

The Rice-EWB is managed and maintained entirely by students at Rice University. A governing board of 13 students oversees the activities of the entire organization and project leaders manage each project team. Students manage everything from chapter organization to fundraising to training to design and to implementation. Rice-EWB is associated with the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Rice University and thanks them for their consistent support. The chapter also works with professors and professional engineers in the Houston area and in our project-countries who provide project mentoring, design advice, and a wealth of practical experience.

All EWB projects are supported entirely by donations from family, friends, charitable/service organizations, and corporations. Rice-EWB has just entered into a new partnership with Groundwater Services, Inc. (GSI), a highly respected and renowned environmental engineering and consulting firm based in Houston. For the next three years, GSI will financially support the efforts of Rice-EWB as well as make available its outstanding engineers as a resource for Rice-EWB students. Rice-EWB is currently in the process creating corporate partnerships with other prominent Houston area engineering firms as well. Furthermore, every year our members send out fundraising letters to their family and friends.
